The income tax e-filing portal has a grievance option for problems with your return, refund or notice. Raise it there first, with your PAN and the reference number.

How to file

Check the status
Log in and see the status of the return, refund and any open notice or demand.

Fix the bank account
Make sure the account is pre-validated and linked to your PAN.

Raise a grievance
Use the grievance option on the e-filing portal with the acknowledgement number and a clear description.

Escalate
If unresolved, use CPGRAMS under the Ministry of Finance.
