Pension not received or stopped? How to complain in India

Updated 2026-10 · General information, not legal advice.

Pension problems usually come from a missing document, a bank mismatch or a life certificate that was not recorded. Fix those first, then escalate in writing.

When to use this

  • Your monthly pension has not been credited
  • The pension was stopped without notice
  • The amount is lower than your sanction order

Step by step

  1. 1

Check your PPO and bank details

Confirm the pension payment order number, account number, IFSC and that the life certificate is recorded.

  2. 2

Write to the pension paying bank and the sanctioning office

State the problem, attach the PPO and bank statement, and ask for a written reply with a date.

  3. 3

    Raise it on CPGRAMS

If there is no action, file on the CPGRAMS portal under the department concerned.

  4. 4

Use RTI or a pension adalat

An RTI can ask what happened to your file. Departments also hold pension adalats for pending cases; ask your office when the next one is.

Key facts

  • Keep the PPO, last pay certificate and bank statement
  • Submit your life certificate on time every year
  • Rules differ for central, state and EPS pensions
