EPFO grievance: PF claim stuck or rejected? How to complain

Updated 2026-10 · General information, not legal advice.

Most PF problems are fixed by correcting KYC or employer details, and the rest can be escalated on EPFO's grievance portal.

When to use this

  • A PF withdrawal or transfer is pending or was rejected
  • Your employer has not deposited your PF
  • Your name, date of birth or UAN details do not match

Step by step

  1. 1

    Read the rejection reason

Check the claim status on the EPFO member portal. Most rejections are about KYC, bank details or a mismatch with the employer's record.

  2. 2

    Fix the cause

Update KYC and bank details on the member portal, and ask your employer to correct the joint declaration or exit date if needed.

  3. 3

    Register a grievance on EPFiGMS

If the claim is still stuck, register a grievance on the EPFiGMS portal with your UAN and claim details. Keep the registration number.

  4. 4

Escalate to the regional office or CPGRAMS

Write to the Regional PF Commissioner of your region, or use the CPGRAMS portal. For an employer not depositing PF, give the employer's details and the months missed.

Key facts

  • Keep your UAN, claim ID and employer details handy
  • Passbook and payslips prove contributions
  • Shikayat does not give financial advice
